Minutes of meetings
According to ยง 3 of the statutes of the AUS, the Executive Committee is expected to meet during the Arctic Ungulate Conferences to choose the organizer of the next conference. However, at the last conference in Yakutsk, Russia, 8-13 August 2007, only four members of the Executive Committee were present, and only a limited number of non-Russians participated. The President therefore decided that, instead of calling an official meeting, an informal meeting of the four executives, supplemented with delegates from those countries that were not represented by an executive was more appropriate. The meeting was informed by the President that the so far standing offer from Pond Inlet, Nunavut, Canada, was likely to be withdrawn, and in view of the unusual situation it was decided that the business of choosing the next organizer should be postponed to be carried out by e-mail between the members of the Executive Committee after the conference. This has been done, and the Executive Committee has decided with great enthusiasm to accept an offer from the Government of the Northwest Territories (Department of Environment and Natural Resources) to host the 13th Arctic Ungulate Conference in Yellowknife, NWT, in August 2011. .
